I'm Not A Magnet, But I Might Have Poles...

In comparison to my last post, I feel much more...chipper, I suppose, about things.

Anywho~! I found some pictures of the places we'll be going in the Peace Core and I thought I'd share with you all.

What I wouldn't give to know light well enough to make a show like that... But yes, this is a picture that I found from Ioine, the planet we'll be landing and clubbing on. All the light...:3

I don't know what everyone else is doing for shopping for proper clothes, but I'm thankfully all set and therefore do not need to venture outside of the ship until we're ready to go.

Ah, right, I didn't mention where at least Nemo, Hobson, and I are going: it's a place called Sunshine, which apparently specializes in a 'UV light experience'--and not to worry, Vanessa, it says on their website that it's safe for vampires of all suns.

And here's an image of one of the side streets off of where we'll be! Sunshine is down to the left.

I couldn't get a more specific picture, I'm afraid. Still, pretty good quality for a 'net search. But wow, just look at those stars, they're absolutely beautiful, don't you think? I think I'd go out just to see those.

The stars are what made me fall in love with the idea of space travel in the first place, actually. My dad knew a lot of constellations, which were easier to pick out since where we lived, it was pretty dark at night, not a whole lot of light pollution, I mean. Every year we used to watch the Nuletide Showers--it wasn't really so much a shower as a bombardment of highly charged particles that looked more like drunken lightning bugs plummeting out of a pastel Aurora and into the ground, but still. It was beautiful, and I wanted to see more beautiful things out past the blackness of space.

I actually kinda miss it.

Sorry, sorry! Things got a little heavy there, I think.

Anyway, I'm going to go start getting ready for some teaching. Vanessa's shown me a few videos that were very...insightful.

I can't wait for tonight. :)

Overall, I'd Say Stygia Isn't The Best Vacation Spot

Stygian Gates: convenient, necessary for both inter- and intra-galactic travel, and a fine venture for people with Geists. Outside of that, they're not exactly...'the best idea', so to speak.

Our latest trip through--an effort to get to the Opiate Circuit in a timely manner--didn't exactly go...well. First some guy named Cyrus who speaks in plural and apparently destroyed Vanessa's home planet carved his way onto the ship.

Literally.

Suffice to say, he won't be getting that scythe back very soon.

And then, in the midst of all that chaos, the Underworld bit back at us, the unwanted occupants, with a spiteful vengeance. Hallucinations are no one's friend, especially not when they remind you of all the things you'd quite frankly rather not be reminded of.

...I'm to the point that I don't even know if I want to talk about it.

But we made it through, and that's what really matters. That, and I get to sleep a day away, which is nice. I'm fairly sure I'm not the only one who feels like hell.

The night after tomorrow we're all going clubbing; Nemo needs to find a contact, and the rest of us just need to let loose. I for one need to decompress a bit. But I get to teach Hobson to dance, first, which is exciting, at least.

Until then, I've got a ship to fix.

Fire Extinguishers Acquired, Among Other Things

We made it to the space dock--and to my cousin--relatively unscathed, which is, you know, an accomplishment where we're concerned. Unfortunately (or perhaps what will prove to be fortunately)...we acquired more than family and fire retardant.

How we managed to double our crew in under five minutes, I will never understand.

But then, having more people on board wasn't exactly the highlight--even if that novelty involves a fully grown man wearing pink kitty covered boxers.

(No, not cats. Kitties. Specifically)

Acquired items were acquired, but there was also an oozing, centaur monster thing to contend with before we left. I have no idea what it was, but that thing had a mouth for a stomach, which is both sick and wrong and, quite frankly, begs the question:

Where does the food go?

Of course, considering that one of it's...his...whatever's, companions was a mage powerful enough to give me painful Nimbus-jeevies from across the dock, I somehow get the feeling that this concern it not necessarily a valid one. My bet's on Abyssal creature. Just sayin'.

I need to stop reading engineering magazines right before updating my blog. It makes my sentences all pretentious-y.

I'm going to go and do something brainless. Something that doesn't involve the question of where eaten objects go. Because...yeah.

Wait, wait, chore wheel! There's more people now, so I can make a better chore wheel! Yessssssssss.
